3 won the ‘Fastest Network’ award for 8,013 residential addresses in Cambridge. EE came in second place with 6,276, followed by O2 (4,336) and Vodafone (2,205).

3 won the ‘Fastest Network’ award for 463 business addresses, in Cambridge. EE came in second place with 303, followed by O2 (217) and Vodafone (71).

3 wins the ‘Real-World Download Speed’ award, providing an average of 21.6 Mbps across Cambridge compared with EE (17.6 Mbps), O2 (14 Mbps), and Vodafone (12.2 Mbps).

EE wins the ‘Real-World Upload Speed’ award with an average of 4.3 Mbps, compared to 3 (3.8 Mbps), Vodafone (3.8 Mbps), and O2 (3.6 Mbps).

This report analyses the consumer experience of the UK’s four largest mobile network operators, EE, Vodafone, 3 (Three) and O2. The data was collected over 8 days starting on 23rd November 2023, and completed on 4th December 2023. Measurements from all network generations (2G-5G) were recorded, collecting a total of 109,350 data points. Data was collected across the vast majority of the road network of Cambridge.

Cambridge has a population of 145,700 and is characterised as a densely populated urban area. Cambridge topography is relatively flat and has the river Cam running through its centre. The University of Cambridge, founded in 1209, is found at the heart of the city.
